My project is on the role of the interaction between oligodendrocytes and endothelial cells in the development of vascular small vessel disease (cSVD). This is an emerging interdisciplinary field of research that could lead to a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in cognitive impairments cause by vascular abnormalities. Our aim is to identify possible targets for treatment or prevention of the development of cSVD by using both clinical data and in vivo and in vitro models. Our ultimate objective is to improvement the quality of life of cSVD patients and decrease the burden it has on the society.
