Annina Roelofsen studied biology and medical laboratory research at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. After she finished her bachelor in 2018 she worked as a technician in the Leiden University Medical Center for 3 years in the field of diabetes research. During this time she was working with stem cells to generate insulin producing cells. After that, she studied the master Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology at Utrecht University and obtained her Master’s degree in 2023. September 2023, she started working as a PhD student in Maastricht University at the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Her study looks into redirecting the wound healing after myocardial infarction towards cardiac regeneration.
